Aslam K Purayil is a Director of Photography working across mainstream cinema, web series, and advertising. A graduate of the Mindscreen Film Institute, Chennai, his approach to cinematography is grounded in strong visual storytelling and controlled lighting, shaped by over a decade of experience as a graphic designer that continues to inform his sense of composition, balance, and visual rhythm.

He received the Best Cinematographer Award at the 45th Kerala Film Critics Awards (2022) for the Malayalam feature 'Salute', directed by Rosshan Andrrews. His short film '405' was an Official Selection at the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival and the Dharamshala International Film Festival, while 'Visitor' was an Official Selection at the International Documentary & Short Film Festival of Kerala.

 

His filmography spans multiple languages and formats, including the Malayalam feature 'Saturday Night', the Hindi feature films 'Mara' and 'Echoes of Valour', the Hindi cine-play 'Trial of Satyam Kaushik', the web series 'Masterpeace', and a range of television commercials for leading brands.
